Flight
Recommended airlines for reaching the Maldives include Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, Turkish Airlines, FlyDubai, and Gulf Air.
It is mandatory to purchase health insurance at the time of booking your flight, which should include coverage for COVID-19, baggage, and trip cancellation. This can be purchased when booking your flight or through major insurance companies such as Columbus or Europe Assistance.

Upon arrival in Malé, we will guide you to the check-in for the domestic flight.
Transfers
We will arrange your transfers following your arrival in Malé using external operators, at no additional cost.
The island is reached by a 30-minute domestic flight from Malé Airport, followed by a 30-minute speedboat ride. The short domestic flight offers a unique opportunity to admire the atolls and their fantastic colors from above. The speedboat will take you to the Buruni port.

Check-in and Check-out
At Villa Buruni, during February and March, check-ins and check-outs will only be accepted on Saturdays.
In other months, arrivals and departures can be made daily except on Fridays, subject to the needs of the property.
Documents and Registration
The required document to enter the Maldives is a valid electronic passport, which must be valid for at least 6 months from departure.
Italian citizens do not need to obtain a visa: to enter the Maldives, it is sufficient to complete an online “Traveler Declaration” (IMUGA https://imuga.immigration.gov.mv/) within 96 hours before arrival and departure from the Maldives.
No vaccination or prophylaxis is required for entry to the Maldives.
Luggage
It is highly recommended to use high SPF sunscreen and sun hats.
You should bring mosquito and insect repellent products and various essential medicines.
In the part of the island where you interact with the local population, respectful clothing is required due to their religion: recommended attire includes dresses, kaftans, short-sleeve shirts, skirts, and shorts that are not too short for women; for men, tank tops and shirts are recommended to avoid exposing the torso. Generally, comfortable and informal clothing is advised.
Connectivity
Wi-Fi is not available on the islands, but you can purchase a tourist SIM card directly at the airport, and we will assist you with this.
Seasons
The best time to visit the Maldives is from December to April. The temperature is consistent year-round, ranging from 26°C to 32°C, while the water temperature remains constant at around 28°C. There are two main seasons: from May to November, known as the “wet” season, and from December to April, considered “dry” due to less rainfall.
Time Zone
The Maldives is +4 hours ahead of Italy during standard time and +3 hours ahead during daylight saving time.
Currency
The currency of the Maldives is the Maldivian Rufiyaa. The US dollar is the most commonly used foreign currency. Only cash payments are accepted on the island (no ATM, credit cards, or electronic payments).
Drinking water
Tap water is not potable but can be used safely for personal hygiene.
Prohibitions
In respect of the Muslim religion and Maldivian customs, during your stay, the consumption of alcohol, drugs, and pork is prohibited. Topless sunbathing, displaying sacred images, and nude imagery are not allowed. Collecting shells, sand, and coral from the beach and reefs, as well as touching fish and marine creatures, is prohibited.
The importation of alcoholic beverages and pork is prohibited.
Language
Dhivehi is the official language of the Maldives, but English is widely spoken and understood everywhere.
